Suntory Roku Gin Minori Select Edition is a limited release from the House of Suntory, distilled at the Osaka Distillery in Japan. Roku means six, for the six Japanese botanicals at the heart of the original: sakura flower, sakura leaf, sencha tea, gyokuro tea, sansho pepper and yuzu peel, layered over eight traditional gin botanicals including juniper, coriander, angelica root and seed, cardamom, cinnamon, bitter orange and lemon peel. Suntory distills the botanicals in separate stills matched to each one, including a stainless still for the delicate tea and blossom notes and copper pot stills for the rest, then blends them. Minori, meaning harvest or abundance, adds handpicked seasonal Japanese fruit to that base: Japanese melon, white peach and ume plum, alongside yuzu and Japanese tea. Bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof). Suntory's tasting notes describe refreshing juniper and citrus balanced with sweet melon on the nose; succulent melon, vibrant peach and sweet-sour plum balanced by citrus and green botanicals with a soft, full texture on the palate; and a clean finish of gyokuro umami, subtle sweetness and zesty ginger.
