For 2025, the theme is tea: a collaboration with JING, the British single-garden tea purveyor, producing a whisky inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid — a rare aromatic oolong grown in the Phoenix Mountain range of Guangdong, China, prized for dessert-wine aromas and exotic fruit character. No tea is actually added; the Whisky Mastery Team built the profile through cask selection alone, maturing predominantly in sherry-seasoned American oak for fruity, floral sweetness, balanced by sherry-seasoned European oak for roasted richness and light tannic grip, with a portion of ex-bourbon casks adding a final honeyed lift. Bottled at 43.9% ABV in packaging made with organic by-products, in keeping with the series' sustainability angle. Expect a warm honey-gold pour with peach, apricot, floral honey, tropical fruit, toffee, and sweet oak. Reception is honestly split — 88 Bamboo praised its well-integrated oak, spice, and dried fruit for showcasing spirit quality without relying on intensity, while one European critic dismissed it as flat and forgettable, a common charge against contemporary Macallan.
