Tincup 14 Year Bourbon Whiskey
Tincup 14 Year, released as Tincup Fourteener, is the oldest whiskey the Colorado brand has put out. Where the flagship Tincup blends sourced Indiana bourbon with Colorado malt whiskey, the Fourteener is unblended 14-year-old straight bourbon from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, distilled from one of MGP's classic high-rye mash bills, 64% corn, 32% rye and 4% malted barley. After 14 years in new charred oak it was brought down from barrel proof to 84 proof (42% ABV) with water from the El Dorado spring just south of Boulder, Colorado, and bottled in 750ml. The Fourteener was launched at the end of 2022 as the first in an annual series honoring Colorado's 58 peaks over 14,000 feet, with Longs Peak on this inaugural label. Paste's review found a bright, fruity nose of orange oil, brown sugar, vanilla, oak, cinnamon and clove with milk chocolate emerging over time, a sweet, candy-bar palate of candied orange, dried apricot, vanilla and nougat with plenty of baking spice and a clear rye presence, and a modest drying finish of dried fruit and oak.
