Tolosa 1772 Edna Ranch Vineyard Edna Valley Pinot Noir
Tolosa Winery was founded by Robin Baggett, who came to Edna Valley hoping to buy a cattle ranch and stayed to make wine after the cold Pacific wind and limestone soils from an ancient seabed convinced him to focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 1772 series is named for the year the Spanish mission in San Luis Obispo was founded, and this bottle comes from Edna Ranch Vineyard in Edna Valley, a cool, east-west valley in San Luis Obispo County that opens directly toward the ocean. Bottled at 13.4% alcohol, the wine is on the lighter side, with a smooth, juicy texture. Look for pomegranate juice and cherry flavors, herbal notes, and a long finish with lingering hints of hay and cedar. The acidity is lively and the tannins are soft, so it is easy to drink on release. It pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or charcuterie and soft cheeses. Serve it lightly chilled, around 58 to 60 degrees, and it will show its herbal side more clearly. It suits lighter dinners and warm weather. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
