Tres Agaves began in 2008 at founder Barry Augus's dining room table in the San Francisco Bay Area, first as an agave nectar he delivered by hand, then as a tequila brand whose first case landed in 2010. Trinchero Family Estates has handled sales and distribution since a 2012 joint venture, but the tequila itself is made at the brand's own distillery, Tequilera TAP, NOM 1614, opened in 2019 in Amatitán in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco on land bought from David Partida, whose family had produced Tres Agaves for years; his daughter Iliana Partida, a fourth-generation distiller, became Maestra Tequilera in 2018. The Organic Blanco is made from 100% blue Weber agave grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers in a single region of the valley, cooked in a 20-ton autoclave, crushed on a four-stage roller mill, fermented in shallow stainless steel tanks and double distilled in copper-coil pot stills, then bottled unaged at 40% ABV with no additives of any kind: no artificial flavor, color, sweetener or thickener. The brand describes it as crisp and agave-forward and points it at cocktails: margaritas, palomas or ranch water.
