Tres Mujeres is the family tequila of Jesús Sergio Partida, whose family grew blue agave for the big names in the Tequila Valley for more than 65 years before building their own distillery, Tequila Tres Mujeres S.A. de C.V., NOM 1466, at kilometer 39 of the Guadalajara-Nogales highway between El Arenal and Amatitán, a stretch of the Amatitán Valley many consider the birthplace of tequila. Partida named it for the three women in his family, and the goal from the start was a 100% blue agave tequila with nothing added, made from the family's most select agave at an honest price. The distillery cooks its piñas in stone and brick ovens, crushes them on a roller mill, ferments in stainless steel tanks and double distills in stainless steel pot stills, then ages in French oak that is charred on site before filling. The barrels rest in an underground cava the distillery says holds more than a thousand barrels, and the Añejo comes out at 40% ABV with no additives listed. Tequila Matchmaker reviewers describe cooked agave with a pleasant oaky aftertaste and late warmth, plus caramel, minerals, barrel spice and citrus. A family-made valley añejo.
