Tres Mujeres is a family-owned distillery, NOM 1466, on the Guadalajara-Nogales highway between El Arenal and Amatitán in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco, founded by Jesús Sergio Partida after his family had spent more than 65 years growing blue agave for the region's best-known houses. He named the tequila for the three women in his family, and built it around 100% blue Weber agave from the family's own fields, cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed on a roller mill, fermented in stainless steel tanks and double distilled in stainless steel pot stills, with nothing added. The Anfora Reposado is the brand's dressed-up reposado, and it is aged in a combination of French oak barrels from various regions rather than the usual ex-bourbon American oak, the barrels being charred at the distillery before filling and rested in its underground cava. The distillery's own tasting notes describe a transparent color with gold and copper sparkles, an aroma of vanilla, cooked agave and plum, and a palate that is mainly vanilla, oak and honey with fruity touches. A reposado for neat sipping, the rocks, or a top-shelf margarita.
