Tres Mujeres is the Amatitán Valley distillery of Jesús Sergio Partida Meléndez, NOM 1466, sitting on the Guadalajara–Nogales highway between El Arenal and Amatitán, a few kilometers from the town of Tequila itself. The Partida Meléndez family are major agave growers in the valley, and the distillery is built as much for visitors as for production: you can walk every stage of the process, and its underground cava, which the house claims as the largest tequila cellar in the world, holds well over a thousand resting barrels. The name is Partida's tribute to the three women in his family, and Primera Generación 1953 is the flagship of the range, an extra añejo made from 100% blue Weber agave cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed on a roller mill, fermented in stainless steel with deep well water, double distilled in stainless pot stills, and matured for five years in oak before bottling. The house describes it as medium golden with copper flashes and plenty of body, with vanilla, cooked agave and plum on the nose and a smooth, full palate. The bottling is kosher certified and comes in a 750ml presentation bottle.
