Tullibardine 500 Sherry Finish is part of the cask-finish trio from a Highland distillery founded in 1949 at Blackford in Perthshire, on the site of a medieval brewery said to have supplied ale for the coronation of King James IV in 1488. Each finish is named for the size of its cask, and the 500 refers to the 500-liter Pedro Ximénez sherry butts from Jerez that give this whisky its final maturation.
Matured first in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 86 proof, it exudes warmth and complexity: dried fruit, raisin and date on the nose with nutty undertones and a touch of spice, then a rich, rounded palate of sherried fruit, toffee, chocolate and malt, finishing long with gentle oak and sweetness.
