Wente Family Vineyards Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir
Wente Family Vineyards was founded in 1883 and is the country's longest continuously family-owned and operated winery, now led by the fourth and fifth generations. The family farms certified sustainable estate vineyards in Livermore Valley and along the Central Coast. This Pinot Noir is grown in the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County, a narrow appellation of benchland vineyards above the Salinas Valley where cold winds off Monterey Bay and long, dry days produce small, concentrated berries with firm acidity. Bottled at 14.5% alcohol, the wine opens with aromas of black cherry, red currant and earthy forest floor, which lead into layered notes of cinnamon, toasted brioche and subtle oak spice. The palate is silky and balanced, with bright acidity and fine tannins, and it finishes long, elegant and lightly spiced. It is a fuller expression of Pinot Noir that still stays fresh. Pair it with seared duck breast, roasted pork loin or wild mushroom dishes, and it also goes well with grilled salmon. Serve it slightly cooler than room temperature. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
