Wente Riva Ranch Vineyard Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir
Founded in 1883, Wente Vineyards is America's oldest continuously operated family-owned winery, with estate vineyards in Livermore Valley and in Arroyo Seco in Monterey County. This single-vineyard Pinot Noir comes from Riva Ranch in Arroyo Seco, a cool, windy part of the Salinas Valley where gravelly soils and afternoon breezes off Monterey Bay keep the fruit bright. Bottled at 14.5% alcohol, it opens with youthful aromas of ripe Rainier cherry and raspberry, joined by smoked nuts, toasted brioche and a delicate layer of sweet vanilla from oak. On the palate, supple, round tannins and vibrant acidity balance the ripe fruit and carry through to a clean finish. The style is generous but fresh, with enough lift to work at the table. Pair it with roasted duck breast, grilled salmon or a wild mushroom flatbread. It also holds up well to herb-roasted chicken and soft cheeses. Serve it slightly cooler than room temperature to highlight the red fruit and the subtle toast. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
