The Badönkådonk is the crowning bottle in WhistlePig's super-aged single malt series and, at 25 years, among the oldest North American single malts ever released — matured more than twice as long as anything else on the continent. Distilled from 100% malted barley in Nova Scotia, Canada, it spent a quarter century in new American oak before finishing at WhistlePig's Shoreham, Vermont farm in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from Silver Oak's Alexander Valley — the cult California winery whose barrels were chosen to complement rather than bulldoze 25 years of oak development. Bottled at 91 proof (45.5% ABV), and note that bottling strength can vary by release. Expect stone fruit, fig, plum, crème brûlée, and light butterscotch on the nose, with cedar wood, doughy wild honey, dark chocolate, and herbal spice on the palate, finishing long with toasted almond, tanned leather, espresso, maple, and pipe tobacco.
