Willett restarted its own stills in 2012 after decades as an independent bottler, and its young cask-strength rye was the first product to show the world what the family could make.
The Family Estate rye is made from two mash bills, a 74% high-rye recipe and a 51% low-rye recipe, aged in hand-selected white oak barrels and bottled at cask strength without chill filtration, with proof varying by batch. Even at three years it shows the Willett signature: cherry and oak on the nose, cherry, vanilla and a wave of spice on the palate, and a spicy finish with a touch of fruit on the back end.
