Gin XII Dry Gin Haute-Provence
Gin XII is a craft dry gin from Distilleries et Domaines de Provence in Forcalquier, in the hills of Haute-Provence, the house best known for its pastis and Provençal aperitifs. As the name says, it is distilled from twelve plants and spices in a plate column still to preserve subtle aromas: the herbs of the Provençal garrigue, thyme, rosemary, basil, mint and eucalyptus, join sweet almond and small local juniper berries. It is bottled at 42% ABV (84 proof).
The Arbuturian described it as refreshing, minty and floral with a slightly spicy edge and a rich, authentic taste of its terroir. Dry, herbal and unmistakably Provençal, it makes a wonderful G&T with a sprig of rosemary or thyme, a Basil Smash, or a Martini with an olive, and it pairs beautifully with the kind of long summer lunch it was made for.
