Yamato is a blend of malt whisky and grain whisky from Yamanashi-grown grain, aged in mizunara oak in the Kofu Basin, where cold winters and hot summers speed maturation, and bottled without chill filtration. The nose is toasted honeycomb, toffee and a hint of licorice; the palate is rich with barley-oak sweetness, vanilla, nougat and hazelnut, and the finish is round vanilla with soft oak. It is an easy neat pour and a great highball whisky.
