Yellowstone 2022 Limited Edition is the 150th-anniversary edition of the annual allocated bourbon from Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky, opened in 2011 by seventh-generation distillers Stephen and Paul Beam, who brought the Yellowstone brand, founded in 1872 by their great-great-grandfather J.W. Dant, back into the family in 2015 and have released one Limited Edition a year ever since. For 2022 master distiller Stephen Beam hand-selected 7-, 15- and 16-year-old Kentucky straight bourbons and finished select barrels of the 7-year in Marsala Superiore casks, a fortified Sicilian wine aged at least two years, a finish he said he fell in love with for its impact on the overall profile. It is bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV) in the custom embossed bottle with a natural cork and the 2022 emblem, with 10,000 three-bottle cases released in September 2022 at $99.99. Beam's published notes describe dried apricot and honey with hints of tobacco on the nose, dark brown sugar, dried fruit, walnut, dates and a hint of vanilla on the palate, and a lingering finish of palm sugar and tamarind. Every Limited Edition is a different blend and finish, so this anniversary bottling will not be repeated.
