Ziata Green Valley of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Ziata is a boutique brand founded in 2008 by Karen Cakebread, who spent twenty years marketing Napa Valley wines before starting her own label, named in honor of her mother, Mary Annunziata. Her goals were to make structured wines that reflect their vineyards and to stay involved in every step of production. This Pinot Noir is grown in the Green Valley of Russian River Valley, one of Sonoma County's coolest sub-appellations, where Pacific fog rolls in through the Sebastopol gap and keeps the growing season long. Bottled at 14.1% alcohol, the wine is rich and silky, opening with spicy aromas of nutmeg, allspice and pepper that mingle with ripe black cherry, forest floor and cedar. The palate follows with dark fruit and a polished texture, and the finish stays fresh thanks to the cool-climate acidity. Pair it with roast turkey, duck breast, grilled pork with a fruit glaze or a wild mushroom tart. Serve it just under room temperature and decant for a short time if you want the spice and earth notes to show more clearly. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
