Żubrówka Bison Grass Vodka is one of Poland's most famous spirits, made from rye vodka infused with bison grass hand-harvested from the Białowieża Forest, the ancient primeval woodland on the Polish-Belarusian border that is home to Europe's last wild bison. Each bottle contains a single blade of the grass, and the recipe dates back centuries. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. This is the export version made for the U.S. market.
The flavor is unlike any other vodka: soft notes of vanilla, almond and freshly cut hay with a gentle sweetness and a smooth, herbal finish. The classic Polish serve is the szarlotka, or apple pie: one part Żubrówka to two or three parts cloudy apple juice over ice, which tastes exactly like its name. It is also excellent chilled and neat or in a highball with ginger ale.
