Amrut Liberty is a limited single malt from Amrut Distilleries in Bangalore, India, created as a salute to the American market with the Statue of Liberty on its label. Amrut was the first Indian distillery to release a single malt, and its whiskies are made from Indian six-row barley, distilled in copper pot stills and matured in oak in Bangalore's warm climate, where the angels' share is high and the spirit develops quickly. Bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered, in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky shows Amrut's house style with a twist: honeyed malt and dried fruit, vanilla and a touch of spice, with a subtle smokiness lingering in the background that adds depth without dominating. It is a rich, well-balanced dram that works neat or with a drop of water and makes a fine introduction to what Indian single malt can do.
