Darioush Signature Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Darioush Khaledi, who grew up near the ancient wine city of Shiraz before building a grocery empire in Los Angeles, founded Darioush in 1997 and built its Persepolis-inspired winery on the Silverado Trail into one of Napa's landmark estates. The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon is the house flagship, drawn from Darioush estate vineyards in Mount Veeder, Coombsville, Yountville and southern Napa Valley with a contribution from Spring Mountain, cooler-climate sites that give the wine its structure and freshness. Winemaker Hope Goldie bottles it as 100% Cabernet Sauvignon after 21 months in 75% new French oak, finishing at roughly 14.5% ABV. The nose shows blueberry, black and red raspberry and creme de cassis with violet, nutmeg, cinnamon and sandalwood over crushed gravel and damp forest floor; the palate is full-bodied and layered with plum, black raspberry and savory earth framed by fine-grained, polished tannins and a long finish built to improve in the cellar. Serve it with herb-crusted rack of lamb, grilled ribeye or aged Gouda. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release. Bottled in 750ml.
