Josh Cellars Reserve North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon
Josh Cellars was founded by Joseph Carr as a tribute to his father Josh, a U.S. Army veteran and volunteer firefighter, and the brand grew from truck-tailgate sales into one of America's best-selling Cabernet labels. The Reserve tier launched in 2016 to honor that same work ethic, and Australian-born winemaker Wayne Donaldson, a founding member of the Domaine Chandon Australia team who has led Josh winemaking since 2009, sources it from premium vineyards across the North Coast AVA, spanning Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties. The wine is aged in a mix of French and American oak, finishing around 14.2% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Donaldson describes aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, rose petal and roasted walnut leading to a palate of dark cherry, toasted hazelnut, fresh sage and mocha with tannins that are firm in youth and soften with a year or two in bottle. The 2018 release earned 92 points from Wilfred Wong of Wine.com, who praised its black fruit, pencil lead and anise. Pair it with grilled ribeye, braised short ribs or roasted duck. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
