The Calling Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon
The Calling is the wine label created by CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz and Peter Deutsch, CEO of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, two friends who built the brand around the idea of pursuing one's calling. While the portfolio began with Sonoma County wines, this Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Paso Robles on the Central Coast, where limestone-laced soils and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings yield dark, generous Cabernet with bright acidity. It is bottled at 14.0% ABV in 750ml and finished in oak that shows as warm spice on the finish. The winemaker describes a deep plum-red color, aromas of ripe blackberry, mocha, vanilla spice and nutmeg, and bold flavors of cherry pie and coffee that close on a warm, spicy oak note. Wine Enthusiast has been a consistent fan, scoring recent vintages 90 points and praising the dense dark fruit, earthy loam and flavors of blackberry, cracked pepper and coffee bean. Serve it with grilled steak, smoked tri-tip or a bacon cheeseburger. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
