The 4 Year Añejo Oro is Flor de Caña's entry-level gold rum, and it does the job the whole range is built around: real barrel aging without added sugar. It spends four years in ex-bourbon oak at the base of the active San Cristóbal volcano in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, where the volcanic microclimate's heat accelerates the interaction between spirit and wood — which is why it carries more color and character than most rums at this age and price. Like every expression from the fifth-generation family distillery, it's naturally aged with no accelerants, no artificial ingredients, and no added sugar, distilled using 100% renewable energy and certified Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade. Bottled at 40% ABV. Expect a light golden pour with vanilla, light caramel, and toasted oak on the nose over cane sweetness, opening into a dry, smooth palate of butterscotch, soft tropical fruit, and gentle baking spice, finishing clean and short with a touch of oak.
