Extra Seco is Flor de Caña's clear rum with a twist most white rums can't claim: it's genuinely aged four years in ex-bourbon barrels at the base of Nicaragua's active San Cristóbal volcano, then charcoal filtered to strip the color back out while leaving the barrel-derived character behind. That's the opposite approach to most white rums, which are bottled unaged or barely rested — and it's why this one carries more weight and roundness than the category norm. Like the whole Flor de Caña range, it's naturally aged with no added sugar, accelerants, or artificial additives, distilled using 100% renewable energy, and certified Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade. Bottled at 40% ABV. Expect a crisp, clean nose with light vanilla, cane sweetness, and subtle oak, opening into a dry, smooth palate of gentle vanilla, toasted almond, and soft tropical fruit, finishing clean and notably dry — "seco" is the operative word here. It's a mixing rum first and an excellent one: mojitos, daiquiris, rum and tonic, or anywhere you want a white rum that actually contributes flavor rather than just alcohol.
