Frank August is a Bardstown, Kentucky bourbon brand launched in 2022 by co-founder and CEO Johnathan Crocker. The distillery is undisclosed, but the company says its Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon technically meets Bottled-in-Bond requirements and only skips the label because it cannot reveal the DSP. Each small batch is blended from no more than 10 to 15 barrels, and the brand's Case Study program, started in October 2022, tests one finishing variable per release, beginning with Mizunara Japanese oak. The bottle is a minimalist decanter with a heavy brass closure, built to be reused.
