Heaven's Door Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey is the core bourbon from Heaven's Door Spirits, the whiskey brand co-founded by Bob Dylan and named for his iron-gate sculptures, which are embossed on every bottle. It is a Tennessee straight bourbon made from a mash of 70% corn with rye and malted barley making up the rest, aged a minimum of seven years in new American oak and bottled at 90 proof.
Heaven's Door describes baking spice and vanilla layered over toasted oak, exceptional by all measures. Breaking Bourbon rated it 3 out of 5 as an easy-sipping bourbon that performs solidly for the money, with orange marmalade, caramel, strawberry nougat, honey and vanilla on the nose, rich caramel, buttered biscuit, cherry and vanilla on the palate, and a finish of toasted vanilla, burnt caramel, pepper and spice. The extra rye gives it more bite than most Tennessee whiskeys, and it makes a lovely Old Fashioned. Heaven's Door has since opened its own distillery in a former church in Nashville.
