Club Kokomo Barrel Finished Rum is the top of the range from Beach Boys co-founder Mike Love's rum company, launched in March 2024, with the rums blended and bottled at a craft distillery in San Diego under master distiller Geoff Longenecker, founder of Seven Caves Spirits. This one is Longenecker's own blend of eight- and ten-year-old rums from Jamaica, Barbados and the Dominican Republic, matured in new oak, ex-whiskey and port casks, then married and finished in hand-selected bourbon barrels before bottling at 92 proof (46% ABV), with no added sugar, artificial flavoring or additives. Club Kokomo describes a woodsy aroma with soft vanilla, oak and caramel on the palate and hints of bourbon and stone fruit; one reviewer called it the standout of the portfolio and rated it an A-plus, finding tropical spice, oak char, caramel and new tobacco leaf with a rum-cake and raisin-toast quality. At eight to ten years of age with real Jamaican and Bajan pot-still weight underneath, it is a sipping rum first and a cocktail rum second: neat, on a big cube, or in an Old Fashioned where the bourbon-barrel finish makes sense.
