The blend of 18-year-old pot still and grain whiskeys, matured in bourbon and sherry casks at Midleton, is brought to the old Bow Street Distillery in Dublin and married for six months in first-fill bourbon barrels before bottling straight from the cask at 55.1% ABV (110.2 proof).
The nose is aromatic oils, orange, apricot and dried fruit with a touch of wood and toffee. On the palate it is rich and full, and a splash of water brings the sherry forward into chocolate and bourbon-biscuit notes. The finish is long and warming. It is a whiskey for slow neat sipping with a little water.
