M&H Apex Dead Sea is one of the most unusual whiskies in the world: the first ever matured at the lowest point on Earth. Milk & Honey, Israel's first whisky distillery, founded in Tel Aviv in 2014, sent casks of its single malt to age beside the Dead Sea, more than 400 meters below sea level, where summer temperatures can reach 50°C (122°F). The extreme heat and pressure drive the spirit deep into the oak, and the result is bottled at cask strength, 56.2% ABV, non chill-filtered, in a 750ml bottle.
The whisky is as intense as its origin: heavy toasted oak, dark caramel and dried fruit, vanilla and a saline, mineral edge, with a thick, oily texture and a long, warming finish. It is bold enough to reward a splash of water. A true one-of-a-kind for collectors, and a conversation starter at any tasting.
