The Founder's Collection is founder Kaveh Zamanian's series of limited releases from Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, and this edition, limited to 1,200 bottles, showcases what the 95% rye Boxergrail mash bill becomes after eight years in charred American oak, bottled uncut at 103.8 proof.
Rabbit Hole describes mint, cinnamon, anise and brown sugar on the nose, ginger, tobacco and blood orange on the palate, and a finish of allspice, herbs, tobacco and oak. The Whiskey Wash called it bold yet gentle, finding a wonderful balance of spice, sweetness and herbaceous notes with charred oak, burnt citrus and brown sugar, and noted the orange comes forward with a splash of water, making it approachable even at cask strength. It honors Louisville's boxing legacy in a heavy decanter-style bottle, and it is one of the oldest ryes Rabbit Hole has ever released.
