El Mayor is four generations of González distillers in Arandas: master distiller Rodolfo runs Destiladora González Lux, NOM 1603, in the Los Altos highlands with his son Paul and daughter Graciela, growing estate agave at 7,500 feet in sandy, mineral soil; Luxco distributes it, which is why it's priced like a house brand. The Reposado is 100% estate-grown highland blue Weber agave, fermented with the family yeast, double-distilled in stainless pots with copper coils, aged at least nine months in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, and bottled at 40% ABV.
