Unlike the brand's older 20, 25, and 30 Year expressions, which use the Solera system, this one carries a genuine, straightforward age statement from Spanish-style barrel aging in white oak. Drinkhacker described it as still youthful on the nose but engaging, with ample vanilla, coconut, almond, and gentle baking spice, turning sweeter on the palate than its older siblings, with nutty notes taking on a candied character. Independent tasters found similarly approachable, if unremarkable, character: honey, vanilla, brown sugar, oak, and a touch of cola, with a bit of dryness and a hint of smoke on the finish.
