Teeling brought whiskey-making back to Dublin. The family's roots in the trade stretch to 1782, when Walter Teeling set up a small craft distillery on Marrowbone Lane in the city's Liberties district — the heart of Dublin's "Golden Triangle," where dozens of distilleries once made the Dublin seal a global mark of quality before Irish whiskey's long 20th-century collapse. In 2015, brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling opened the new Teeling Whiskey Distillery just down the road from the original family site — the first new distillery in Dublin in over 125 years — running a traditional three-copper-pot-still operation that's since been named World's Best Whiskey Visitor Attraction at the World Whiskies Awards. The house style is deliberately modern: nothing is chill-filtered, everything bottles at a signature 46% ABV or higher to preserve body and character, and the brothers have built a reputation for unconventional cask work — the flagship Small Batch finishes in rum casks, with Single Grain (ex-Cabernet casks), Single Malt (five wine cask types), and Single Pot Still filling out the Trinity and beyond, plus acclaimed older releases like the Renaissance and vintage single malts that have taken World's Best honors of their own.
