The liqueur takes its name from Maria Luisa, Princess of Parma and wife of King Carlos IV of Spain, who brought lemon verbena — Aloysia triphylla — to Europe from Argentina and Chile in the 17th century, where it had been used for centuries as a calming stomachic on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Crafted entirely from fresh, estate-grown lemon verbena from Vicario's own South Carolina farm directly behind the distillery in Greer, this is a genuine farm-to-bottle liqueur with nothing artificial, nothing industrial.
