1792 is the year Kentucky became a state, and Small Batch is the flagship of the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown — the oldest operating distillery in the town, running on the site since 1879 and now part of Sazerac. Originally launched as Ridgewood Reserve 1792 with an eight-year age statement, it was renamed after a trademark dispute with Woodford Reserve and lost the age statement in 2013; it remains the one 1792 expression in continuous production, the base from which the Full Proof, Single Barrel, Bottled in Bond, and Sweet Wheat extensions all grew.
