James Fleming founded Aberlour in 1879 on the banks of the Spey; Pernod Ricard owns it, and the 18 Year was relaunched in 2023 in numbered batches: eighteen-year Aberlour finished in both PX and Oloroso first-fill sherry casks, bottled at 43% ABV without color or chill filtration. Whisky Notes on batch 001: modern sherry seasoning — rum-soaked raisin, cherry, berries, fresh plum, citrus, and chocolate on the nose; vanilla, stewed berries, raisin, plum, blood orange, grape, nuts, and cocoa on the palate; and a medium finish of berries, citrus, almond, and cocoa — a bright, fruity Aberlour, a daily drinker or a standout in a sherried collection, reasonably priced.
