First launched in 2000 by California's CVI Brands, Black Maple Hill was never a distillery, but its early releases, produced by Julian Van Winkle III and widely believed to include wheated Stitzel-Weller stock, built a genuine cult following before aged Kentucky supply ran dry and production shifted to Oregon in 2014.
