Bladnoch 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch

Bladnoch is Scotland's southernmost distillery, founded in 1817 by brothers John and Thomas McClelland on the River Bladnoch in Galloway, and the last independent Lowland malt with real age behind it. It spent much of the last few decades silent, closing in 1993, again in 2009, and finally coming back to life after Australian entrepreneur David Prior bought it in 2015, rebuilt it, and hired Dr. Nick Savage, formerly master distiller at The Macallan, to run the whisky. The house style is classic Lowland: light, floral, and grassy, bottled without chill filtration at natural color. The 30 Year Old is the pinnacle of the range and a genuine rarity: whisky distilled under Bladnoch's previous owners before the long closure, quietly maturing through the years the distillery stood silent, and bottled at 46% ABV. Three decades turn the light Lowland spirit into something deep and waxy, with honeyed orchard fruit, beeswax, old oak, and a long, gentle finish. Very limited, and there will never be more old Bladnoch than exists today.
