Dos Hombres Blanco Tequila
After six years building Dos Hombres into one of America's most recognizable mezcal brands, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul turned to tequila — and did the homework. They evaluated seven distilleries before choosing Tequilera Tap (NOM 1614) in Amatitán, Jalisco, the well-regarded, additive-free facility behind Cazcanes, Tres Agaves, and Inspiro, then coaxed maestro tequilero Julio Cova out of a nearly 40-year retirement to make it. Production uses a blended cooking process — roughly 75% autoclave, 25% traditional stone oven — which Cova credits for the split character: caramel and vanilla from the oven, green herbaceous notes, honey, black pepper, and cinnamon from the autoclave. Fermentation runs in open-air vats with native yeasts; distillation happens in stainless pot stills with copper coils, followed by a refining second run in copper. Bottled unaged at 40% ABV. Expect smooth cooked agave up front, unfolding into subtle black pepper, lime and orange zest, orange blossom, and toasted cinnamon, with a buttery, velvety mouthfeel and a long, soft finish touched with coconut. Critical reception has been genuinely warm — Tequila Report placed it in the upper echelon of celebrity tequilas and called it a bottle worth supporting, while The Daily Pour flatly called it "shockingly solid" at around $40. Excellent neat, and a serious upgrade in a margarita.
