Dos Hombres spent six years building one of the most recognizable mezcal brands in America before founders Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul turned to tequila, launching this line in 2026. They took the expansion seriously: they evaluated seven distilleries before settling on Tequilera Tap (NOM 1614) in Amatitán, Jalisco — the same well-regarded, additive-free facility behind Cazcanes, Tres Agaves, and Inspiro — and coaxed maestro tequilero Julio Cova out of a nearly 40-year retirement to make it. The production splits the difference between tradition and scale: roughly 75% of the agave is cooked in autoclaves and 25% in traditional brick ovens, which Cova says contributes caramel and vanilla from the oven alongside green, honey, black pepper, and cinnamon from the autoclave. Fermentation happens in open-air vats with native yeasts, followed by stainless pot still distillation with copper coils and a second copper run. The Reposado rests four months in first-fill ex-Four Roses bourbon barrels, adding richer, lightly oaked depth while staying silky. Bottled at 40% ABV.
