Favia Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon
Favia was founded in 2003 by husband-and-wife team Andy Erickson and Annie Favia. Erickson is one of Napa's most sought-after winemakers, with a resume that includes Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, Ovid, Arietta and Marciano, while Favia is a viticulturist who spent years under David Abreu. Their home estate in Coombsville, the cool volcanic amphitheater southeast of the city of Napa, is dry-farmed and organically managed with a focus on native ecology. The Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon is aged 22 months in French oak, half new, followed by a further 12 months in bottle before release, and finished at 15.0% alcohol. It is a wine of mountain-like structure and perfume: The Wine Independent and Decanter both gave the 2021 98 points, James Suckling and Vinous 97, and Jeb Dunnuck 96+, citing creme de cassis, black cherry, boysenberry, cedar, graphite, lavender oil, crushed rock and rose petal over firm, grainy tannin and bright acidity. Dunnuck suggests a decade of patience and 30 years of life. Pair with dry-aged beef or venison. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
