Hana Lychee Flavored Sake is a fruit-infused sake from Takara Sake USA, the Berkeley, California, brewery that in 1983 became the first Japanese sake company to brew in the United States, a branch of Takara Shuzo of Kyoto, founded in 1842 and the house behind Sho Chiku Bai. Hana means flower, and the line is built on Takara's California sake, brewed from Sacramento Valley Calrose rice and Sierra Nevada snowmelt water, then infused with natural fruit flavor and bottled at a gentle 8% ABV in a 750ml bottle, kosher certified, gluten free and sulfite free. The brewery describes lychee aromatics with a sweet, full-bodied palate of lychee, yellow peach and lemon-lime, a mouthful of ripe lychee in a glass. Serve it well chilled at about 50°F, over ice, or as the base of a cocktail, and pair it with tropical fruit desserts, cheesecake, or a glass of iced tea with a splash of it.
