Josh Cellars Reserve Bourbon Barrel Aged California Cabernet Sauvignon
Josh Cellars was founded in 2005 by Joseph Carr, a former sommelier and wine executive who named the brand after his father, Josh, a lumberjack, boxer and firefighter; the Reserve tier followed in 2016 as a tribute to that same work ethic, and the label is now part of the Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits portfolio. The Bourbon Barrel Aged Reserve draws Cabernet Sauvignon from California's North Coast and Central Coast, ferments it as a conventional dry red, then finishes it for a short stint in charred American bourbon barrels, which layer vanilla, caramel and toasted-oak sweetness over the fruit. At 14.5% ABV it is full-bodied and unapologetically rich: the winery describes dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee and burnt toffee on the nose, with baked black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, cedar and a whisper of bourbon on the palate, carried by plush tannins and a lingering finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature with smoked brisket, barbecue ribs, burgers off the grill or a dark-chocolate dessert. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
