Josh Cellars was founded by Joseph Carr, a former sommelier and wine executive who named the brand after his father, and the Reserve tier launched in 2016 to honor the elder Carr's work ethic and high standards. This Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced entirely from Paso Robles on California's Central Coast, where hot days and cool Pacific-influenced nights build ripe, dense fruit with lively acidity. The wine is aged in 20% new French oak, which adds vanilla and baking-spice tones without burying the fruit, and finishes at 14.0% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The winery describes red fruits and black peppercorn on the nose, with raspberry, coffee and vanilla on the palate and bold tannins leading to a long, smooth finish. Reverse Wine Snob rated it a Recommended Buy, noting black cherry, baking spice, cola and vanilla aromatics and a full-bodied, juicy palate with coffee and tobacco accents from the oak.
