M&H Distillery Levantine Small Batch Single Malt Gin comes from Milk & Honey, Tel Aviv's first whisky distillery. Unlike most gins, it is distilled from 100% malted barley, the same base as the distillery's acclaimed single malt whisky, and flavored with botanicals of the Levant: juniper, za'atar (wild Syrian oregano), lemon, orange, cinnamon, chamomile, black pepper, lemon verbena and hyssop. It is bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) and is kosher.
The Gin Is In praised the crisp, nutty barley base and the quality of the distilling, describing resinous juniper, cinnamon, citrus and camphorous herbs on the nose, sweet citrus giving way to bold juniper and spice on the palate, and a lemon-oil finish with warming spice. The reviewer found it best neat or in complex cocktails like a Negroni, a Martinez or a Pink Gin, where the malt weight and za'atar have room to work.
