Meiomi Bright is a lower-alcohol take on the California Pinot Noir that made the brand popular, made with grapes grown in several of the state's coastal winegrowing regions and overseen by winemaker Jason Becker. To reach 8% alcohol, the wine is produced using spinning cone technology, a gentle process that is designed to keep flavor intact while lowering alcohol, and it is aged with French oak. Bottled at 8% alcohol, it comes in at about 90 calories per glass. Aromas of black cherry and toasty oak lead into flavors of strawberry and toasted mocha, and the finish is silky and well balanced. The body is lighter than a typical Pinot Noir, but the fruit stays ripe and generous. It is a smart choice for anyone who wants a red wine that is lighter on alcohol and calories without giving up flavor.
