Meiomi California Cabernet Sauvignon

Meiomi, whose name comes from the Wappo word for "coast," built its reputation on coastal Pinot Noir before releasing its first Cabernet Sauvignon in October 2020 under lead winemaker Jason Becker, who had spent five years on the Meiomi team before taking the reins in 2019. Now part of Constellation Brands, the label follows the same multi-region recipe that made its Pinot a household name: fruit from Meiomi's three coastal appellations, Sonoma, Monterey and Santa Barbara counties, picked at full ripeness in early November and blended so each region contributes a different layer of flavor. The winemaking marries traditional Bordeaux practices with a plush New World touch, and the finished wine lands at 13.5% ABV in a 750ml Burgundy-shaped bottle under screw cap. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with blackberry, boysenberry and bramble over toasty vanilla and graham cracker, with a velvety mouthfeel, soft tannins and a long, easy finish.
