Queen Huh Gin is the chai-infused gin from Minhwa Spirits, the Korean-American craft distillery in Doraville, Georgia, founded by childhood friends James Kim and Ming Han Chung. The brand takes its name from minhwa, Korean folk painting, and its products from Korean folklore; Queen Huh honors the legend of Heo Hwang-ok, the Indian princess who sailed to Korea and became a queen of Gaya, which is why the gin marries two traditions. Developed with Monica Sunny of The Chai Box, the Georgia tea company, it layers juniper, citrus and other traditional botanicals with chai spices including cardamom, ginger, clove and pepper. It is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV). At the 2024 USA Spirits Ratings it earned a Silver medal with 88 points; the judges described a coastal sea breeze and citrus aroma with herbal fennel and rosemary notes and a lingering peppery finish with citrus peel. Minhwa's distillery uses north Georgia spring water and makes everything without sweeteners, preservatives or additives. Its Yong soju has won Best of Class at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the first soju outside Korea to do so.
