Simi Winery was founded in 1876 and is among the oldest continuously operating wineries in California. Isabelle Simi took over at age 18 in 1904 and ran the winery for more than 70 years, keeping it going through Prohibition, and the winery has championed female winemakers ever since. Simi became green certified in 2008 and sources fruit from the best growing regions it can find. This Pinot Noir carries a Sonoma County designation, which draws on cool-climate vineyards across the county that give the grape its freshness and structure. Bottled at 13.5% alcohol, it shows aromas and flavors of fresh red fruit, baking spice and toasted oak. The body is medium, the tannins are gentle and the finish is smooth and clean, which makes this an easy wine to drink on its own or with dinner. It pairs well with roast chicken, grilled salmon or pork tenderloin, and with baked brie and charcuterie. Serve it with a light chill so the red fruit stays vivid. 750ml bottle. Vintages may vary; we ship the current release.
