He found the nose built on apple cider, plumped up with extra cinnamon and clove, maraschino cherry, and vanilla sweetness, but the palate came as a genuine surprise: drier than expected, with heavier wood influence around that cherry character, unfolding into well-browned butter, dark chocolate, fresh mint, and even a touch of incense on a long, if slightly confusing, finish. He called it "an unusual and unexpected spiced rum," giving it a B. Bottled at 70 proof (35% ABV), lower than the brand's Gold rum. Community reception has been more mixed, with some finding it thin or closer to a flavored white rum than a genuinely distilled spiced rum, though one taster specifically enjoyed it mixed with grapefruit soda for extra depth.
